Great Bay Beach, on the eastern end of St. Thomas [1], is not as perfect as you might expect of the beach at a Ritz Carlton resort. The sand is a little coarse and the bottom is rocky. But plenty of coconut palms, sea grape trees, and seaside grasses provide ambience, along with the Ritz Carlton’s distinctive blue umbrellas and beach chairs (not free to nonresort guests). The water is pure and refreshing.
To find Great Bay Beach, drive all the way past the resort entrance and look for the service road that directs you to the public beach access.
