Right off the bat you should know that the Manitou Cliff Dwellings (Hwy. 24, 719/685-5242, www.cliffdwellingsmuseum.com [1], $9.50 adult, $8.50 senior, $7.50 child, free 6 and under) were relocated from somewhere else, and some of the buildings here are reproductions. The good news is that this lack of authenticity means more access to the entire site, unlike truly preserved cliff dwellings in southwestern Colorado.
There are self-guided tours of the site and a lack of “do not touch” signs, as the effort here is to educate people about Native American cultures. Hours change seasonally; call ahead for current times.
