With both the casinos and the opera drawing visitors to the towns, the hotels are vying for those tourist dollars and many offer lodging discounts. Near the Opera House [1] is the Golden Rose Hotel & Antiques (101 Main St., Central City, 303/582-5045, $110–140) with just four rooms, all a step back in time in decor.
If this location is too noisy, the Chateau L’Acadienne (325 Spring St., Central City, 303/582-5209, $60–94) is an 1870s-era Victorian home with a touch of Louisiana. Three guest rooms share one bathroom.
In Blackhawk [2], the Chase Creek Bed and Breakfast (303/582-3550, www.chasecreekinn.com [3], $95–195) is a historic home that was relocated from the busy town center to make way for bigger casinos. Somewhat secluded, it’s still walking distance to downtown.
