At the resort there are four restaurants to choose from—some very casual with pizza, chili, burgers, and beer and others with a nice view and a slightly more upscale menu.

If you’re driving back to Denver [3] on Highway 72, consider stopping at the Wondervu Café (33492 Hwy. 72, 303/642-7197, www.wondervucafe.com [4], Oct. 1–May 31 Tues.–Sun. 9 a.m.– 9 p.m.; June 1–Sept. 30 Thurs.–Sat. 9 a.m.–10 p.m., Tues., Wed., and Sun. 9 a.m.–9 p.m., $5–15) for chips and salsa and big sloppy burritos.

In Nederland, the Whistler’s Café (121 Jefferson St., 303/258-7871) is good for breakfast or lunch.

Between Boulder [5] and Eldora is a sweet little lodge, The Alps Boulder Canyon Inn (38619 Boulder Canyon Dr., 303/444-5445, www.alpsinn.com [6], $99–274), hugging the side of the mountain at a bend in the road. There are spa services, private patios, and whirlpool tubs in most rooms.

One of the nearest hotels to Eldora Mountain Resort [1] is the Sundance Lodge (23492 Hwy. 119, Nederland, 303/258-3797, www.sundance-lodge.com [7], $89–99). While “lodge” is perhaps a bit too grand a word here, it has clean and cozy rooms.
