It’s as pretty as a postcard or an old Hollywood movie at Evergreen Lake, with snow on the nearby trees and skaters gliding across the frozen surface. At least 30 minutes from downtown, Evergreen Lake is worth the drive for the mountain scenery.
The skating season is roughly from mid-December through mid-March and completely depends on if the weather stays cold enough for the 40-acre lake to stay solidly frozen. The Lake House serves as a warming hut with a fireplace inside.
Much like ice-skating at Evergreen Lake, ice-fishing opportunities depend wholly on the current weather conditions and just how cold the winter season is. The lake is periodically stocked with rainbow trout and tiger muskie, and you can check with the Colorado Division of Wildlife (http://wildlife.state.co.us/Fishing [2]) for the most recent stocking dates.
A fishing license is required for ice fishing. Always call ahead for the most current conditions.
