Michigan’s larger cities have a full plate of nightlife options. On most nights and every weekend, you can choose from blues, jazz, alternative, rock, country, and everything in between. In Detroit [1], check out the free Metro Times, an alternative weekly that provides a comprehensive entertainment listing (and is also known for its colorful personal ads). Another good bet is the entertainment section of the Detroit Free Press, which lists city events as well as dates throughout the state.

Beyond Detroit, nightlife varies, but almost universally gears up in the summer season. From gay bars in Saugatuck to Nugent-lovers in Jackson [2], there’s something for everyone.
