Exeter and Stiles Sts., Little Italy, 410/675-7275
When the Baltimore Fire of 1904 destroyed much of downtown, the residents of Little Italy gathered at the St. Leo the Great Catholic church and prayed to St. Anthony for the salvation of their neighborhood.
The fire never made it across the Jones Falls and Little Italy was spared; to thank St. Anthony, a festival was held that year, and every year since. Now, for a weekend in early June, there’s lots of great Italian food, dancing, music, and a Sunday bocce tournament.
