1724 N. Charles St., 410/727-8815
HOURS: Daily 6 p.m.–2 a.m.
One of Baltimore’s [1] premier, old-fashioned watering holes for discriminating drinkers, this Art Deco bar has hosted generations of city residents looking for some fine drinks, good music, and an artsy, metropolitan scene. The light here is very, very low, making it a great place to grab a booth and canoodle and people-watch over some martinis, either before or after a film at the Charles Theatre [2]. The marvelous bartenders are unflappably kind, even when the crowds get two deep.
