3701 Chestnut St., 215/387-5125,
There is a lot going on inside this large, boxy, bland-looking building on the edge of the University of Pennsylvania’s [2] campus. The International House offers basic, affordable accommodations for a few days or long-term. Rooms are rented to students, prospective students, faculty, or anyone with an academic affiliation (ID proof is required).
Single ($70), double ($90), and efficiency apartments ($115) are rented on a nightly basis when available, but many residents stay for a month ($830) or more. This is where many international students studying at Penn live for a semester or a year.
The International House also holds a movie theater showing mostly international films, hosts events and parties, and offers language and other classes to support the local international population.
