The latest and arguably the greatest way to tour the city is on a Segway, a two-wheeled, self-balancing electric scooter from I-Glide Tours. Tours start with a half-hour instructional period so you can get used to get the machine, but just in case, you also wear a helmet and a dorky bright-orange vest for safety.
Your guide will offer unique facts about Philadelphia [2] as you ride through Fairmount Park, Boathouse Row [3], along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, and elsewhere, depending on the length of your tour. Daytime tours are 2.5 hours long and evening tours are 1.5 hours. Participants must be 13 years old and weigh 100–285 pounds, and all minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
All tours begin at Eakins Oval [4] across the street from the Philadelphia Museum of Art [5], and are offered daily at 10 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 7 p.m.; cost is $49 for evening tours and $69 for daytime. Reservations are required.
