Just 16 miles from Center City Philadelphia [2], Ridley Creek State Park offers more than 2,600 acres of woodlands and meadows, along with several seasonal attractions. There are 12 miles of biking and hiking trails, along with fishing, horseback riding, camping, cross-country skiing, and tobogganing, and the park is open for archery deer hunting in season.
A National Historic Landmark, it is also home to the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation (610/566-1725), a 300-year-old farming mainstay and small re-created 18th-century village where interpreters in period costume bake bread, mend fences, and card wool.
The village, open on weekends April–November, aims to re-create the lives of members of the Pratt family who lived on the Quaker plantation for three generations as early as 1710.
