Named for sakura, the pretty pink cherry blossoms that come out in spring and hold deep significance in Japanese culture, this two-week festival celebrates Japanese culture and welcomes spring.
Watch Taiko drumming or martial arts demonstrations, learn to make origami or sushi, or take part in a traditional tea ceremony. Sakura Sunday is the highlight, with a festival at the Japanese House and Gardens [2] in Fairmount Park.
Even if you miss the organized events, be sure to take a moment to take in the cherry blossoms throughout the city and especially in Fairmount Park.
