It’s fitting that Equality Forum, which bills itself as the country’s largest gay-lesbian-bisexual-transgendered civil rights organization, hails from the city where American democracy began.
The group, which began as the weekend-long PrideFest Philadelphia in 1993, hosts a full week of programs, panels, colloquies, screenings, and social events every April. It is capped off by SundayOUT, which is certainly Philly’s, but also one of the country’s, largest and most fabulous gay pride events.
During its off-season, the Equality Forum organization keeps busy by producing gay-themed documentaries, advocating for same-sex marriage, and lobbying Fortune 500 corporations for non-discrimination policies and domestic-partner benefits.
