North by Northwest

It is difficult to categorize this venue as just one thing since it excels as a bar, a restaurant, and as a live music venue. It’s also the only live venue of its stature in this part of Philadelphia [2] and probably the only venue in Mt. Airy that draws so many people from outside the neighborhood.

There are a wide variety of small to mid-name musical acts that come through, as well as salsa dancing nights, comedy acts, and dance parties. Under the same ownership as North Star Bar [3], it’s no surprise that it has been such a success.

The music offerings cater to a diverse and often more mature crowd than many of the other small bars/live music venues in the city, and the reasonably priced menu offers good, hearty American food.
