South Philly is many locals’ favorite place to eat, with an abundance of both traditional and contemporary Italian restaurants in and around the Italian Market [1], and affordable Asian and Mexican eateries on nearby Washington Avenue.
South Street and Queen Village, the neighborhood just south of it, are filled with restaurants, gastro-pubs, and BYOBs [2]. Further south, a continually developing stretch of Passyunk Avenue has another sprinkling of excellent old and modern dining options side by side.
South Philly is also home to an abundance of cheesesteaks, including the dueling Pat’s and Geno’s on opposing corners at 9th Street and Passyunk Avenue.
