A classic grassroots independent-business success story, LeBus started serving food to University of Pennsylvania [2] students out of a school bus more than 25 years ago. Today, in addition to several retail locations, it supplies wholesome artisan breads to more than 500 clients, including the Four Seasons [3], Saladworks, and US Airways.
Using ancient European recipes and natural ingredients, LeBus breads are known for their full flavors, from the signature French baguette and raisin walnut bread to croissants, muffins, and bagels. The Rittenhouse store is a popular morning stop for coffee, baked goods, and sweet treats and for lunch for its homemade soups, quiche, and sandwiches.
Be warned: Snagging croissants or bagels after noon can be difficult. Take out only, no inside seating.
Winnie’s LeBus, a full restaurant in Manayunk, uses all LeBus bread products and serves delicious and hearty lunch and dinner.
