When the weather is nice, continue past the somewhat cramped interior to the choice seating area—the large backyard patio filled with tables for dining al fresco. You might wait awhile for your food, but if you’ve got sunshine, friends, and a few Red Stripes to pass the time at this unique BYOB [1], time will fly.
Flaky patties stuffed with beef, chicken, or vegetables are a great starter, and the menu features something for meat lovers and vegetarians alike.
Spice-sensitive diners should avoid the jerked dishes—they pack a punch. Curried dishes, while still flavorful, are more manageable, and all the homemade juices are worth sampling.
While the place is a bit run-down, and the outdoor space is surrounded by a chain fence and the sides of houses, Jamaican Jerk Hut has got character—so much in fact that this is where the wedding was held in the last scene of In Her Shoes. Remember that movie, girls?
