One of the many stately manors that dot the green banks of the Schuylkill River, Lemon Hill was built in 1800 by wealthy merchant Henry Pratt on land formerly owned by Declaration of Independence signatory Robert Morris.
Of particular architectural note are the curved doors, windows, and fireplaces in the two oval rooms that look out over the lush gardens. The property was the first purchased by the city for the creation of its magnificent Fairmount Park system, and holds a special place in local, mercantile, and horticultural histories.
