North of the Masonic Temple [2] on Broad Street stands another architectural gem, the Arch Street United Methodist Church. The Gothic revival structure features a white-marble exterior, arched doorways, domed ceilings, dark wood, red-cushioned pews, and impressive stained-glass windows. It also houses a multi-stop Stanbridge organ made in 1870.
The church was founded in 1862 and built on a former coal yard 1864–1870. The active congregation hosts many community and social events, including regular workshops about Native American heritage.
