Rent cross country and skate skis at Stevens Pass Nordic Center (five miles east of the Stevens Pass downhill area, 360/973-2441, open Fri.–Sun. and on winter holidays, $18.50 adults, $13 youth, $15 seniors, $6.50 kids), which offers 30 kilometers of groomed trails, most of which follow closely along the noisy overhead power lines.
The main route climbs uphill for 7.5 kilometers, gaining over 700 feet along the way. Once you work up an appetite, head back to the trailhead, where there’s a snack bar with hot food.
