Two local places are popular for breakfast. Sandy’s Waffle & Dinner Haus (894 Hwy. 2, 509/548-6779, daily 7 a.m.–2 p.m.) is crowded most every morning and has all the old breakfast standbys.
The Renaissance Café (217 8th St., 509/548-6725, Sun.–Thurs. 7 a.m.–3 p.m., Fri.–Sat. 7 a.m.–8 p.m.) strays a bit, with huevos rancheros, pancakes, or omelettes, plus a lunchtime menu of salads, wraps, and salads.
Also recommended is Uncle Uli’s Pub Restaurant (9th and Front, 509/548-7262, daily 11 a.m.–10 p.m.), where the lunch menu includes soups, salads, great sandwiches, and at least one pasta.
Another decent spot for a sandwich or afternoon ice cream is Tastebuds (843 Front St., 509/548-7716, daily 9 a.m.–6 p.m.), which also sells German gourmet foods.
Los Camperos (200 8th St., 509/548-3314, Sun.–Thurs. 11 a.m.––9:30 p.m., Fri.–Sat. 11 a.m.–10:30 p.m.) has tasty and reasonably priced Mexican favorites.
A good spot for pizzas is Leavenworth Pizza Co. (894 Hwy. 2, 509/548-7766, Mon.–Fri. 4–9 p.m., Sat.–Sun. 11 a.m.–9 p.m.).
