The Bald Eagle Interpretive Center (360/853-7614, Fri.–Sat. 10 a.m.–4 p.m. and Sunday noon–4 p.m.) is inside the fire hall in Rockport [1].
The pretty country settlement of Marblemount [1] is surrounded by open fields and bigleaf maple trees (brilliant yellow in the fall) and is split by two rivers: the Skagit and the Cascade.
Among the bigleaf maples is quaint Wildwood Chapel, covering barely enough space for a minister and the couple to be married. The chapel was built here in 1977 and has been used for weddings and countless I-was-there photos.
The Marblemount Fish Hatchery (a mile southeast of town on Fish Hatchery Rd.) rears and releases thousands of king, silver, and chum salmon each year.
