A full-day hike to Mount Forgotten Meadows alpine meadow starts 26 miles from Granite Falls [1] and heads up 6,005-foot Mt. Forgotten for an eight-mile round-trip hike.
Take the Mountain Loop Highway [2] 15 miles east from the Verlot Public Service Center (11 miles east of Granite Falls, 360/691-7791, June–Labor Day daily 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m., plus Thurs.–Mon. 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. in the spring and fall, closed in winter), then go north on Perry Creek Road (No. 4063) for a mile to the Perry Creek trailhead. The trail continues through meadows to Mt. Forgotten’s climbing route (for experienced alpine climbers only).
The trail climbs past Perry Creek Falls at about two miles, heading through an old-growth forest for another 1.7 miles to the first meadow. Allow seven hours to reach the meadows at 5,200 feet, an elevation gain of 3,100 feet.
