Wenatchee Confluence State Park (509/664-6373, open year-round) sits at the juncture of the Wenatchee [1] and Columbia Rivers, just north of town, and has a pedestrian bridge across the Wenatchee River to marshes on the south side. Tent sites are $17, and RV hookups cost $24. Neatniks should bring some change, as there are coin-operated showers on-site. Six miles west of Wenatchee on Highway 2, Wenatchee River County Park (509/662-2525, Apr.–Sept.) has playgrounds, picnic areas, and camping for tents ($19) and RVs ($29).
Some say that the geologic feature across the river from Lincoln Rock State Park (509/884-8702, www.parks.wa.gov [2], mid-Mar.–Oct.) looks like old Abe’s profile. The park is seven miles north of East Wenatchee [1] on Highway 2 and sports a day-use area that has a swimming beach on the Columbia River, boat moorage, and tennis courts. The park has tent sites ($17) and full-hookup RV spaces ($24). Interpretive programs are offered at the amphitheater on summer evenings.
