In business since 1945, Duffy’s is the local family restaurant, featuring a varied, inexpensive-to-moderate seafood and steak menu and great blackberry pies. Try this local favorite at two locations, one in Aberdeen (1605 Simpson Ave., 360/532-3842, 6 a.m.–10 p.m. Sun.–Thurs., 6 a.m.–11 p.m. Fri.–Sat.) and one in Hoquiam (825 Simpson Ave., 360/532-1519, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Tues.–Sat., 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Sun.–Mon.).
Aberdeen’s [1] Breakwater Seafood (306 S. F St., 360/532-5693, 9:30 a.m.–7 p.m. Mon.–Sat., 11 a.m.–6 p.m. Sun.) is a seafood market/restaurant with good chowder and fresh fish and chips to eat in or take out.
Reservations are recommended for dinner at Mallard’s (118 E. Wishkah, 360/532-0731, 5–7:30 p.m. Tues.–Sat.), a small place with good quality European-style cuisine prepared by a Danish chef, with daily specialties.
The atmosphere is elegant but not stuffy at Bridge’s (112 N. G St., Aberdeen, 360/532-6563, 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Mon.–Sat., 4–9 p.m. Sun.), which serves prime rib, steak, and seafood dinners, including razor clams. It is open for lunch and dinner daily plus Sunday brunch.
Billy’s Bar & Grill (322 E. Heron, Aberdeen, 360/533-7144, 8 a.m.–10 p.m. Mon.–Sat.) is a restored saloon that serves delicious and reasonably priced steaks, seafood, and burgers.
Decent Italian food and the best local pizzas are at Casa Mia Pizza (2936 Simpson Ave., Hoquiam, 360/533-2010, 11 a.m.–midnight Mon.–Thurs., 11 a.m.–1 a.m. Fri.–Sat., 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Sun.).
The Hoquiam-Grays Harbor Farmers Market (360/538-9747, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Tues. and Thurs.–Sat. year-round) takes place at Hoquiam’s [1] Levee Park, on the river on Highway 101 North.
