The Driftwood Players, a community theatrical company, puts on several plays a year at Driftwood Playhouse (120 E. 3rd in Aberdeen, 360/538-1213).
Kick the year off with a fun time at Aberdeen’s [1] Dixieland Jazz Festival, held on Presidents’ Day weekend in mid-February. The Grays Harbor Shorebird Festival in late April—the peak of the migration—includes bird-watching field trips and workshops. In early May, the city’s Grays Harbor Discovery Days Celebration attracts longboats from throughout the Northwest for rowing and sailing races.
Hoquiam’s [1] Loggers Playday, held the second weekend in September, is an opportunity for sedentary executives to see what real work is all about. After kicking off the event with a parade and salmon barbecue, loggers compete in ax-throwing, log-chopping, and tree-climbing events. Evening brings a big fireworks show.
