Covering a little more than 13,000 acres, the Mt. Skokomish Wilderness occupies steep terrain bordering the western edge of Olympic National Park [1]. The Putvin Trail starts from Forest Road 25, approximately four miles beyond Lena Creek Campground [2] on Hamma Hamma Road, and climbs steeply, rising more than 3,700 feet in less than four miles.
The trail ends at rock-rimmed Lake of the Angels, just inside the park boundary. The Mt. Skokomish Wilderness is managed by Olympic National Forest (360/877-5254). Wilderness permits are not required.
