A notable U District [1] place for inexpensive and tasty Vietnamese lunches is My’s Restaurant (4220 University Way NE, 206/634-3526, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. daily, $8). This immensely popular student eatery dishes up huge portions of pho and fried noodles, including several vegetarian specialties.
Neelam Authentic Indian Cuisine (4735 University Way NE, 206/523-6830, 10 a.m.–10 p.m. daily, $15) lives up to its name with outstanding and very spicy East Indian meals. It has tandoori and vegetarian specialties, plus wonderful curries. The onion kulcha bread is hard to beat.
Another extremely popular and reasonable UW [2] hangout is Tandoor Indian Restaurant (5024 University Way NE, 206/523-7477, www.tandoor-india.com [3], 4:30–10 p.m. Mon.–Thurs., 11 a.m.–2:30 a.m. Fri.–Sat., $12), which offers decent dishes at slightly more student-friendly prices.
