Gaudy stage entertainment is another Pigeon Forge [1] hallmark. Massive theater complexes line the parkway, surrounded by even more massive parking lots. The Comedy Barn (865/428-5222, www.comedybarn.com [3], $25) offers terribly hokey country-style comedy.

The Miracle (865/428-7469, www.miracletheater.com [4], $40) tells the story of Jesus Christ. Arrive early to enjoy Noah’s Ark Animal Park, where you can have your photograph taken on a camel.

Magic Beyond Belief (865/428-5600, www.pigeonforgemagic.com [5], $25) stars Terry Evanswood as magician and exotic animal tamer.

Memories Theatre (2141 Parkway, 865/428-7852, www.memoriestheatre.com [6], $25) is one of the longest-running shows in town, with perennial Elvis tribute shows plus tributes to other stars such as Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks.

The most famous of dinner theaters is the Dixie Stampede (3849 Parkway, 800/356-1676, www.dixiestampede.com [7], adults $40, children 4–11 $20). Here guests are seated around a circular arena where actors and animals put on a rodeo-inspired dinner show. A four-course barbecue meal is served while you watch.
