Restaurants in Gatlinburg [1] serve steaks, barbecue, burgers, and other crowd-pleasing country-style food. Snack shops sell sweets, candy, donuts, and other temptations.
The Peddler Restaurant (820 River Rd., 865/436-5794, daily 5–10 p.m., $20–40) is Gatlinburg’s [1] best steakhouse, with a super salad bar as well. In addition to New York strip, prime rib, and filet mignon, you can order fresh trout, shrimp, or blackened chicken. The extra-large salad bar comes with dinners, or is available for $13 on its own.
For breakfast all day, the Pancake Pantry (628 Parkway, 865/436-4724, June–Oct. daily 7 a.m.–4 p.m., Nov.–May daily 7 a.m.–3 p.m., $6–16) cannot be beat. Its 24 different varieties of pancake share the menu with waffles, eggs, and other traditional hearty breakfast favorites. Beginning at 11:30 a.m. daily, the Pantry offers sandwiches, soups, and salads.

Greenbrier Restaurant (370 Newman Rd., 865/436-6318, Sun.–Thurs. 5–9:30 p.m., Fri.–Sat. 5–10 p.m., $15–30), which serves dinner nightly. Specialties include steak, shrimp, and scrumptious desserts. Vegetarian options include sautéed vegetables with provolone cheese and pasta Alfredo. There is a children’s menu ($7–8).
