Wildflowers in the Great Smoky Mountains [1] are legendary, and every April they are in the spotlight at the Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage (www.springwildflowerpilgrimage.org [2]). This five-day event organized by the Friends of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park consists of wildflower, fauna, and natural history walks, motorcades, photographic tours, art classes, and indoor seminars.
Pilgrimage events are very popular, and advance registration is almost always a must. Registration is $25 per day for an adult, and $10 per day for high school and college students. Children under 12 are free with a registered adult. A detailed schedule is posted online, and reservations are accepted beginning in October the year before.
