Near the intersection of Jackson and Depot Streets, a few blocks northeast of Gay Street [1], is the Old City. Knoxville’s [2] former warehouse district, near the train tracks, is now its chief entertainment district.
Here you will find Manhattan’s (101 S. Central St., 865/525-2333), a jazz and blues club with an older clientele.
Patrick Sullivan’s (100 N. Central St., 865/637-4255) is an Irish-inspired restaurant and bar, and a good place to meet for drinks.
Barley’s Taproom and Pizzeria (200 E. Jackson St., 865/521-0092, cover varies) is a large tap house with lots of space for mingling and a stage where folk, rock, and country performers can be found just about every night of the week. The 1st-floor bar offers 40 different beers on tap, a full-service restaurant, and a stage. Upstairs are pool tables and dart boards. Outside is a patio where you can witness Knoxville’s [2] skyline as you meet and mingle.
