The city’s biggest pool is found at the Centennial Sportsplex Aquatic Center (222 25th Ave. N., 615/862-8480, www.centennialsportsplex.com [1], Mon.–Thurs. 5:30 a.m.–7:50 p.m., Fri. 5:30 a.m.–5:50 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m.–4:50 p.m., adults $6, children under 13, military, disabled, seniors, and students $5, children 4 and under free). The center, located near Centennial Park in midtown, has both a large lap pool and a small play pool. Various swim classes are offered; call for a schedule.
Take the kids to Wave Country (2320 Two Rivers Pkwy., 615/885-1052, daily 10 a.m.–6 p.m., adults $8, children under 12 $7, children under 4 free), a waterpark with exciting slides, wave pool, and sand volleyball courts. Wave Country is managed by the city parks commission, and is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
A great destination for swimming and watersports is Nashville Shores (4001 Bell Rd., Hermitage, 615/889-7050, www.nashvilleshores.com [2], Mon–Sat. 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Sun. 11 a.m.–6 p.m.). Here you’ll find miles of sandy beaches along the shore of J. Percy Priest Lake [3], pools, waterslides, and watersports. Admission includes the opportunity to take a 45-minute lake cruise. Admission rates are based on height; 48 inches and taller pay $22, shorter than that $17. Children two years and under are free. General admission is half-price after 3 p.m. Nashville Shores is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
