The Memphis Zoo (2000 Prentiss Pl., 901/276-9453, www.memphiszoo.org [1], Mar.–Oct. daily 9 a.m.–6 p.m., Nov.–Feb. daily 9 a.m.–5 p.m., adults $13, children $8) has been expanding and is now the proud steward of two giant pandas, Le Le and Ya Ya, large cats, penguins, lions, tropical birds, and 3,500 other animal species.
Its butterfly exhibit, open from May to October annually, is a popular favorite. The zoo is located on the grounds of Overton Park [2]. Parking is an additional $3.
