Not only a valuable outlet for SCAD students and faculty to sell their artistic wares, shopSCAD (340 Bull St., 912/525-5180, www.shopscadonline.com [1], Mon.–Wed. 9 a.m.–5:30 p.m., Thurs.–Fri. 9 a.m.–8 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m.–8 p.m., Sun. noon–5 p.m.) is also one of Savannah [2]’s most unique boutiques. You never really know what you’ll find, but whatever it is, it will be one-of-a-kind. The jewelry in particular is always cutting-edge in design and high-quality in craftsmanship. The designer T-shirts are a hoot, too.
A delightful little slice of Europe on Abercorn, Fabrika (140 Abercorn St., 912/236-1122, www.fabrikasavannah.com [3], Mon.–Sat. 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Sun. noon–4 p.m.) seems more like a store in Holland or France than one in Savannah. Tiny and personable, the store is jammed with high-quality, buzz-worthy bolts of fabric, oodles of beads, and lots of sewing paraphernalia. They even offer custom sewing and sewing lessons.
And in this town so enamored of all things Irish, a great little locally owned shop is Saints and Shamrocks (309 Bull St., 912/233-8858, www.saintsandshamrocks.org [4], Mon.–Sat. 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., Sun. 11 a.m.–4 p.m.). Pick up your St. Patrick’s-themed gear and gifts to celebrate Savannah’s highest holiday, or high-quality Irish imports.
