It’s only natural to start one’s adventures in Savannah [1] where Oglethorpe’s adventures themselves began: on the waterfront, now dominated by scenic and historic River Street [2]. Once the bustling center of Savannah’s thriving cotton and naval stores export industry, the waterfront is also generally thought of as including Factor’s Walk and Bay Street.
Begin your Waterfront walking tour at the east end of River Street [2], at the statue of The Waving Girl [3]. Heading west you’ll come to Rousakis Plaza [4]. Running parallel to River Street to the south, Factor’s Walk [5] has shops, hotels, restaurants, and taverns. Bay Street [6], the next street to the south, has several interesting landmarks to explore.
