Jackson

At the base of Jackson [1]’s in-town ski hill, and just a few blocks from downtown, Snow King Resort (400 E. Snow King Ave., 307/733-5200 or 800/522-5464, www.snowking.com [2]) includes more than 200 hotel rooms and 170 condos, plus such amenities as a year-round heated outdoor pool, hot tub, sauna, exercise facility, restaurants facing the slopes, a bar, concierge, business center, game room, spa, and Wi-Fi. A free shuttle provides connections to the airport and Teton Village (winters), and guests receive discounted passes for Snow King Ski Area. The lodge offers reasonable ski-and-stay packages starting at $140 per night for two people, including lodging, breakfast, and a ski pass in early winter. When the snow is gone, Snow King is a popular destination for meetings, offering 48,000 square feet of conference space. A winter ice rink is close by, and in summer a slide, horseback riding, chairlift, bike trails, and miniature golf course attract families. The main resort building has a 1970s feel, but guest rooms are comfortable and updated. Hotel rooms at Snow King cost $245 d in the summer, with condos starting around $300 d, up to an ultra-luxurious three-bedroom Love Ridge condo that will set you back $745 per night.

Some of the most dramatic vistas of the Tetons are from the luxurious Spring Creek Ranch (307/733-8833 or 800/443-6139, www.springcreekranch.com [3]). On a 1,000-acre estate, the resort sits high atop Gros Ventre Butte four miles west of Jackson and includes a wide range of lodging options. Hotel rooms and studios are $340 d in the summer, and two-bedroom suites cost $360 for four people. One-bedroom condos run $340 d; two- and three-bedroom condos range from $410 to $1,400 nightly, with the largest sleeping eight comfortably. Also available are executive four-bedroom homes (one covers 6,500 square feet!) that cost a mere $2,250 per night. All rooms at Spring Creek Ranch contain fireplaces and lodgepole furnishings, and the condos and studios include full kitchens. Other amenities include a private pond, tennis courts, an outdoor pool, hot tub, fitness center, courtesy airport transportation, and day spa with massage and other offerings (extra fee).

Atop Gros Ventre Butte near Spring Creek Ranch is stunning Amangani (307/734-7333 or 877/734-7333, www.amangani.com [4]), the only representative of Amanresorts in America. (Most of the company’s other lavish resorts are in Asia.) Aman groupies and business travelers know to expect the utmost in luxury, and they will certainly not be disappointed here, starting with dressed-in-black employees and spare-no-expenses construction. Guests who come here expect pampering, and the somewhat snooty staff obliges. The three-story sandstone-faced hotel contains 40 suites, each with a patinaed-metal fireplace, mountain-facing balcony, king-size bed, deep soaking tub (with a window view), minibar, and terrazzo dining table. Amangani’s central lobby is particularly impressive, blending sandstone columns, redwood accents, custom furnishings, and soaring two-story windows. Outside, those soaking in a whirlpool and heated 35-meter pool enjoy a remarkable view of the Tetons. Among other amenities are a complete health center, a gourmet restaurant, a lounge, and courtesy airport transportation. Amangani’s accommodations include suites ($875 d), three deluxe suites ($1,100 d), five large luxury suites with two baths and spacious balconies ($1,400-1,700 d), and a four-bedroom home ($4,800) for the utmost in sumptuousness. A three-night minimum is required in the summer. The health center and restaurant are open to the general public.

Teton Village

Four miles south of Teton Village, Teton Pines Resort and Country Club (307/733-1005 or 800/238-2223, www.tetonpines.com [5]) features the amenities you’d expect in a year-round resort, including an 18-hole golf course, tennis center, and classy restaurant. Guests have access to the outdoor pool and hot tub, athletic-club privileges, concierge service, and an airport shuttle. Most of the resort’s condos are privately owned, but three large (2,100-square-foot) three-bedroom town houses are offered on a nightly basis. Each includes a kitchen, dining room, two decks, three baths, a fireplace, hot tub, washer, dryer, and attached garage. These sleep up to eight for $1,050 per night. Golf packages are also available.
