Red Lodge Mountain (406/446-2610 or 800/444-8977, www.redlodgemountain.com [1], $46 adults, $39 teens, $16 children under 13) is a ski resort six miles west of town with a vertical drop of 2,400 feet and seven chairlifts, including two high-speed quads, to ferry skiers to the 70 trails. Ski season runs from early December through mid-April, sometimes later. Spring skiing is especially popular at Red Lodge [2].
Red Lodge Nordic Ski Area (406/425-0698, www.beartoothtrails.org [3], $5 adults, $3 children 13 and under) has nine miles of groomed trails west of town on Hwy. 78, with lessons and rentals available. Find notes about other trails in the area from the Nordic association’s website.
