The Gallatin County Fair is held the third week of July.
One of Bozeman’s pleasant surprises is the Intermountain Opera (406/587-2889, www.operabozeman.org [1]), which stages one production a year (with three performances).
Early August is a festive time in Bozeman [2].
During the first week of the month, booths from local restaurants line up along Main Street for the Bite of Bozeman, a big picnic-cum-dinner party that is part of the Sweet Pea Festival (406/586-4003, www.sweetpeafestival.org [3], first full weekend of August), a big arts festival. As the music, dance, and theater bustles in Lindley Park, people gear up for the costumed Sweet Pea Ball, held at the Gallatin Gateway Inn. A parade and plenty of musical and arts events are scheduled for the festival weekend. It’s a good idea to book your hotel room well in advance of this festival.
September marks the start of the season for the Bozeman Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Choir (406/585-9774). Performances occur approximately once a month through April.
