The lakes are a little too chilly for most swimmers, but there’s a 60-foot indoor saltwater pool at the Waterton Health Club and Recreation Center, located in the Waterton Lakes National Park Resort (Cameron Falls Dr., 403/859-2151).
Divers will want to scout around the paddle-wheel boat submerged in Emerald Bay. Fish gravitate to the rusty rotting boat, which hauled logs on the Waterton River in the early 1900s and was subsequently a floating tearoom, until it fell into disuse and was deliberately scuttled in 1918. Though this is a popular area among divers in the know, it’s best to come with both cold-water diving experience and your own equipment.
