There’s no Glacier National Park visitors center in East Glacier [1], but the information desk at the lodge [2] is staffed by generally helpful people. The ranger station at Two Medicine Lake [3] has more specific information on nearby hiking trails.
The post office is east of Highway 2, behind the Glacier Park Trading Company. A Laundromat and showers are two blocks south at the Y Lazy R RV Park behind the Exxon station.
Amtrak stops at the East Glacier Park station during the summer. The westbound train comes through in the evening; eastbound service is midmorning daily. From September through May the train stops in Browning rather than East Glacier; check exact dates and times with Amtrak (800/872-7245, www.amtrak.com [4]).
Car rentals are available at the Sears Motel (406/226-9293).
