A small sandwich place with picnic tables overlooking the water, The Pantry (27 Water St., 207/374-2229, breakfast and lunch, $2–6) serves excellent crab and lobster rolls along with other creative sandwiches. The sense of humor of the staff is exhibited in their specials, which include names like the Crabby Girls and the PMS (crabmeat salad with a dash of hot peppers, if you must know).
From the outside, Blue Moose (50 Main St., 207/374-3274, www.thebluemooserestaurant.com [1], 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Mon.–Fri, 7:30 a.m.–3 p.m. Sat.–Sun, 5–9 p.m. Thu.–Mon., $9–19) looks like any old pub, and it feels like one on the inside too—that is, until you get a look at the innovative menu, which includes novelties like Moroccan tagine stew, calypso rubbed pork, and Greek souvlaki.
