A line forms every night in front of the ordering window at the
Harbor Gawker (26 Main St., 207/863-9365, 11 a.m.–8 p.m. Mon.–Sat. Apr.–Oct., $2–18), a seafood shack on the harbor that features lobster literally fresh off the boat. Inside at simple tables, you are as likely to hear a conversation about fishing regulations as about Ivy League sports.
Vinalhaven’s [1] nod to fine dining, Haven (49 Main St., 207/863-4969, 6–9 p.m. Tue.–Sat. Jun.–mid-Oct.; weekends only May and mid-Oct.–Dec., $16–24) offers two nightly seatings of chef-owner Tori Pratt’s creative American cuisine. The restaurant has two rooms—a fine dining room by reservation only, and a more casual pub-style room simpler (and less expensive) entrées.
