With its frigid temperatures and relentless icy wind, the Mount Washington Observatory (603/356-2137, www.mountwashington.org [1], mid-May–mid-Oct., free) has got to be the most exciting posting in the world for those who like the weather; either that or they’re just crazy. Either way, the rest of us can vicariously experience the Rockpile’s wild weather with a small museum at the summit dedicated to the climate and geology of the area.
