From May through October, Sunapee Lake [1] visitors can grab dinner on a narrated cruise with M/V Kearsarge Restaurant Ship (Sunapee Harbor, 603/938-6465, www.mvkearsarge.com [2], 6:30 p.m. Tues.–Sun., $3626dults, $19 children). The dinner itself may not be terribly varied (it’s a roast beef buffet nightly), but how else can you catch a bite while you catch a breath?

The fresh pastas, thin-crust pizza, and panini at Bellissima Brick Oven Trattoria (Newbury Harbor, Newbury, 603/763-3290, www.bellissima-trattoria.com [3], $17–19) make for a satisfying end to any day’s hiking or boating. The family restaurant also has an ice cream stand open in the summer.
