The Fells’ natural beauty is augmented by man-made creativity at the annual Artists Weekend at the Fells (603/763-4789, www.thefells.org , July), a juried art show featuring regional artists painting the historic gardens; Celtic musicians and a “wet paint” sale add to the mix.
Sunapee takes center stage at the Love Your Lakes Day (603/763-2210, www.lakesunapee.org , Aug.), which features a parade and boat show in Sunapee Harbor.
There might not be too many clams in the lake, but that doesn’t stop area residents from celebrating Chowderfest (877/526-6575, www.lakesunapeenh.org , Oct.), a high-stakes chowder competition and music fest. Guests are invited to try samples and vote for their own favorite.
