The Webb family certainly thinks big. In addition to the Shelburne Museum [1], they are the benefactors behind Shelburne Farms (1611 Harbor Rd., 802/985-8686, www.shelburnefarms.org [2], 10 a.m.–4 p.m. daily mid May–Oct., $8 adults, $6 seniors, $5 children 3–17, children under 3 free), a sprawling agricultural estate perched literally on the shores of the lake. Attractions include a petting barn where kids can milk a cow or brush a donkey, a cheese-making operation, and eight miles of walking trails through achingly bucolic meadows and woodland. The farm also lets out rooms in its baronial estate.
