The town of Newport is spread out from Bellevue Avenue (which meets First Beach and the mansions along it at one end) all the way to the tip of Thames Street, where the main drag’s commercial shops drop off. Most of Newport’s galleries, commercial wharfs, restaurants, retail shops (both independent boutiques and chain stores) are found on Thames. Over on Bellevue and Ocean Avenues, you’ll find the majority of mansions, beaches, historic homes, and inns.
