Sandwiched between Boston University and Boston College, the twin neighborhoods of Allston-Brighton have become the quintessential student ghetto. Run-down apartments are often filled over capacity by slumlords willing to look the other way. Along the main drags of Harvard and Brighton Avenues is a riot of student bars that feature live bands and lively flirtation.
The number of struggling rock-band members who have lived in the neighborhood has given it the slightly tongue-in-cheek name of “Allston Rock City.”
