Billing itself as “the largest art museum in America south of Chicago, west of Washington, D.C., and east of Los Angeles,” the Houston Museum of Fine Arts contains two major buildings offering 300,000 square feet of display space and 18 acres of public gardens drawing more than two million people annually.
The museum’s collection contains nearly 60,000 pieces of art representing all major continents and dating from antiquity to the present. Highlights include the impressively bold Italian Renaissance paintings, the mesmerizing French Impressionist works, stunning photographs, vintage jewelry, and renowned works of sculpture.
